How do you tune a boat?

I'm new to FE and was wondering if there is a guide on the net on how to tune my cat. It has an adjustable strut and I can move the batts around a bit. I ran it today and on 12nimh cells and an 8xl it was running in the low 20's. Seems slow but the size of that roost and the fact that the motor and esc were barely warm makes me think i need more prop. I have a 1.4x40=56.0mm or 2.20" glass filled prop from ose on there now.

I run a cat with an 8xl and i use - x445 / prather 220 / x440/3 & im gps between 42-47 mph

Lower the strut and start with a neutral position.

I ran it this morning with the strut slightly below the ride pads. It's easily into the 30's! It seems ballistic now! Thanks egneg!

scoota- as soon as ose is open again Im gonna order some more props to try.
