    speed control help

I just received a new etti 150 race opto. I could not get the speed control to power up. After doing some testing I found no power on the small red wire going to the reciever from the esc (was origanaly left out of connector that gets plugged into channel 2 of reciever per castle bec directions). I plugged this wire back in and now it works. Is this normal for the etti opto?

Depends on how many cells you want to run. Most 2 to 6S speedos with BEC need to have the red wire pulled out of the circuit above 3S. Sounds like yours came with the wire already pulled out. Thats a good thing because if you were not aware you could have burned out the BEC function and you would have posted why did your speedo die after running it on 5S for 3 runs?

I'm running 6s. Speed control does not have internal bec, I'm running a castle bec. It came with the red wire connected, I disconnected, but the esc would not power up like this. To get the esc to power up I had to reinstall the red wire. Now every thing seems to work normally. Seems weird. Would like some input cause I would like to get more than a few runs out of it.

You have to leave the red wire connected when using an opto esc. Only the ones with internal becs need the red wire to be removed when using an eternal power source.
