    Prop Questions

Ok so trying different props is starting to eat a big hole in my hobby budget and I'm looking for some help? I have a new Vac-U-Pickle and it runs great so far don't have any one to run against so my real question is has any on tried any of the lifter style props on this boat from ABC or Grim racer?
This is my set up so far
    UL-1 motor and ESC
    Turigy 4000 40c
    I've run X438, X440, M440
    will try X442 and X642
I didn't like the M440 it didn't carry the speed through the turns as well as the
    X438 and X440 slowed down a lot
So please I cant keep buying new props just to try so any help will be very appreciated Thanks.

I hear you with the prop cost..... and then it's the hours of sharpening and balancing.... followed by the "What are you doing down there??"

I'm running a 440/3 on my pickle with the same set-up (UL-1) and it's the best overall that I've come up with. The max speed I've gotten is 48mph with a straight turn fin, but the turning wasn't as good. It turns GREAT with the Grim turn fin!! Make sure to watch your strut depth. Mine is pretty high!

Here are the props I've tried (that I can remember)...

Prather 220 - Great prop, runs good, but a tad slower than the 440/3 (43ish)
X445 (reduced diameter to around 42mm) - Seems to load the system a lot. Great speed, but higher temps.
Grim L40x57 (not sharped or balanced) - Not able to plane. I bet if this was sharpened, it might work well.
X440/3 detounged completely - took a long time to plane. Seemed to run fine after plane, but never got any speed readings.
