Running a BEC off of the balance plug?

Not directly to the receiver but supplying power to a BEC module from a balance plug?

I'm thinking it would be an easy power source to tap into for setups where the BEC has a limited input voltage.

Basically I have a couple BEC's that are limited to 2-3s and using 4s-6s battery packs. Instead of tapping the ESC battery leads to power the separate BEC module, I could use the balance plug to tap into just two cells in the 4s-6s pack.

Not sure how this would effect the pack over time though.

Probably not much, if any at all.

I guess the real problem would be low voltage situations.

The problem with running straight off the cells is non-constant voltage. It is not uncommon for voltage to drop very rapidly to under 3.5 volts per cell under high loads, and this 'could' cause problems in the receiver. I'm not saying it will not work, just that there is some risk.
