Moreover 3M has a high voltage sealing compound which is 2 parts and used in industrial electrical cables

Very poor idea!!! Many silicones release acetic acid as they cure, which corrodes electronic parts like mad. This is what causes the distrinctive odor of these adhesives. If you choose to use silicone, make certain it does not release acid!

You're absolutely right Jay, the one I've used doesn't, at least it doesn't smell acid, I've done this on two ESC's, both are cheap Mystery and Swang and they do work perfectly!

The encapsulation process is something I've been working on when I was in the electronic business, there are different thing that have to be considered when choosing the encap material, acid free silicon or any other polymer that are "neutral" like polyurethane (liquid nails or equivalent), using epoxy might be dangerous when apply in thick layer because most epoxy shrink when they cure, encapsulation epoxy have a very small shrink rate but are expensive.
