    How did this happen???

Ran 1 sets if lipos on day, another 2 the next.
Just as I was pulling in with the 2nd set about done I loose all power.
Get the bout out of the water and find this. Was only running a 580 10xl (1440kv) on 6s with x640 prop.
I might have forgotten to lube the shaft before the 2nd day but it did have Teflon sleeve inside. Any ideas?

    This is the boat.

Was there a sharp bend in the stuffing tube? Was it properly lubed? Just looking at the discoloration on the tube and the shaft. Looks like a lot of heat. Others might have different thoughts.

It was heat alright..... no fire, but lots of smoke. I did forgot to lube before the day but the 1st set of lipos went no issue and the tube was good temp.
Sharp bend you say... interesting though, not that I saw but just before the run I did raise the stinger just a bit to get the nose out of the water, wonder if that put enough kink into the line to *!***!***!***!** it all up. Will be easy repair, just not what I was looking forward going into the weekend :)

Please stay on topic. I really hate deleting stuff. But, complaining about someones spelling really isnt needed. And doesn't contribute to the topic. All it causes is fighting.

Vasy, to get back on topic, how fast were you going when it happened.

What size cable is that? The 580's has a load of torque and IMO should be ran on nothing less than 3/16" cable.

                BTW how did it run?

Perhaps there was enough torque on the cable to draw it tight enough to fail? The way these cables are wound, it looks like they might shrink up quite a bit in length under strain.

Perhaps something caught in the prop or dinged the tube to cause a hot spot?

                    Just guesses.

Wow. Any strut damage? Could the bearings have seized?

                        Was your prop balanced?

I beleive the prop he was running was from me. If it is then yes it was balanced. I think something must of happen to bind that cable up like that. Eighter something caught in the prop, bearing seized or if Teflon liner was used maybe it heated up and melted.

Yes, it was yours x640. I'll get a replacement and try again, will see how it holds up. Will make sure to lube it. Will need to check for any kinks.

I hate to ask the obvious question but sometimes we overlook them. Could the flex cable have been the wrong rotation?
