    Fried my motor

    I'm running a 15in Nanokat with a X427 prop, Mystery 30a Pentium esc, 3000kv outrunner Mystery motor and 3S 20C lipo.

I get long run times out of this. About 15 min. The esc is water cooled but the motor is not.

Tonight I ran it for the first time with the water cooling. This is the 3rd time I have ran the boat. It was running great till about 10 min in and it started to lose power then died. I had to go fishing and when I got it to shore. I found out the motor fried but the esc was just barley warm.

What did I do wrong? What can I do to prevent this from happening again?

Should I be using a different KV motor?

what were your temps on the motor before you added cooling? i am just wondering if the damage had been done previously..you are pushing a motor brushless motor hard when going for 15 minutes at a time...heat buildup must be fairly high if i would guess????

yeah 15min run in a hull is a bit too much, these motor are made for airplane so air flow cool them down!

Yeah I was thinking that as well. Any one have a recommendation on a inexpensive inrunner I could use? Or a very small water cooled motor mount?
