Props and Battery Recomendations for 54" MHZ with 2215's

So i am looking for recommendations for prop recomendations for my new twin cat.... I bought from Cat-boi on swap shop over the weekend... has twin 2215 1.5y's and I am probably gonna buy another 40-160 to match the one I have for esc's to run...

My question is which props should I start with on both 8s and 10s?

would x447's be a good start? help....

also do you gents think I can run 8s1p and 10s1p to each motor? So (2) 4s packs to each motor/esc for running 8s? same idea of 1p when running 10s? Just wondering if it will work on a twin because of the lowere amp draw and I wann a keep the weight down?

the 1.5Y's are great 8S motors for all around use and 10S with carefull prop selection. 8S1P is OK as long at the you have large enough packs and high C ratings, but its advisible to run 2P to minimize battery abuse.

I run a 10S1P 1.5Y in a cat and its a borderline hot set-up. I have 6500mAh cells though which is just enough for 8 laps on a race course, any longer and I would have to go to a 2P set-up.

As for props; try a X457 first and work you want up to an X465. A 447 is way too small.

What was Sandy running on it?

You are probably close, maybe a little less runtime. X455's will increase a little. Which hull/length was it?

54" drambeui on ice..... figured the amp load would be low with twin 2215's so I thought I could get away with 1p?

            This is the actual one...

Start with small props on 1P and make a 2 minute run and check hw much you pulled out of the batts when yuo recharge them. From there you increase runtime or increase prop size and repeat in till you know what's gonna make a 3 min run with good speed.

So you suggest starting with x455's? and running for 1 min?

Yes, or a similar prop(s). I say the X455 as it should be pretty conservative for your twin power system and you are unlikely to fry or overheat anything with that set-up.

thanks racemechanix thats what i'm looking for is no magic smoke and keeping the $750 worth of lipos aboard ok also... the 2215 have ose coolers too so they should stay cool like most neu's... I really apprectiate your help on this.... I wonder has anyone ever run K series carbon props on a setup like this? just to find out what works then switch to octuras? or should I just order a set of x455 and x457's and get em coming? counter rotating of course?

I wouldn't trust carbon props at these power levels, but the price is right. I would go with the both X455's and X457's for 8S as a first stab. You'll probably go bigger later on, but these are a good start. Unless Sandy has a right hand twist cable for the CR side you'll want to stick with regular left handed props.

If you don't already have drive cables, i would stick with left handed props for both sides in till you find a good match and then you can switch one side to CR. Left handed props are going to be easier to source.

Yeah youll probably blow them apart. Those 2215 will easily turn 457's.K props only 5 dollars tho try a pair and see.
