Yes that will work. Timing is not set in stone from what I have read. I'd start around 5deg and take notes on temps and experiment from there. Short runs remember as more heat will be introduced into the system.

Id make a few passes like about a minutes worth. Bring her back in and check temps and speed from GPS. When you see the temps are getting excessive back it back a notch or so.

Neu suggest keeping timing at 0 to 5 degrees, if you want more power maybe try x642 prop is x640 is not fast enough.

Actually, if you look at Neu's FAQ page the very last paragraph talks about timing. For the "y" wind..... low to medium is recommended. (0-15deg)

I don't think you will see 60 with this setup. Could be wrong but this is a big boat at 41". I converted a Thundercat31 which is 31" with this same motor and still have not hit 50 yet. Not saying it's perfectly setup tho. My guess is around mid to high 40's.

This hull is 41" long? If that's the case a 40mm prop simply won't get the big hull moving at all, you will need a minimum of 45mm and 50mm is better. And that is not enough motor for the hull if any fun speed is the goal. Even running 6S is marginal, to get the wattage required you'll be pulling a lot of amps. A 1527 at a minimum, and 8S is better. I would not try a SeaKing 180 on 6S with this setup. If the boat is about 37" then 6S will work but I'd still prefer a 1527/1Y....

(Steve Neu told me that for FE boats the 'Y' winds like 9-15 degrees timing advance. Less timing usually means too much heat, don't run zero on a Y motor!)

You might consider a Feigao 580L and 8S for this hull. It won't be breathtakingly fast but it will be more affordable and more reliable.

If you cannot afford to get an adequate power supply for this big boat, consider selling it and getting something smaller that is less expensive to rig correctly.

                    .

I'll get some reading today on my 580 10xl on stock 38mm prop, will see what it does on 6s, I don't have my x440 just ready yet.
I think his setup with 1521 will be just fine, no need to rush out and get 1527 or 8s just yet. The hull is big but not much water contact at WOT. 8s will be damn heavy and probably NOT fit in the hull. My 6s 3600 mah JUST fit, and I mean JUST.
Maybe if you get the long 8s packs the HK sells they will work but that is some serious $$
Why would you not try SeaKing on 6s, because of the Y wind?

Just a word. Running that voltage on the Turnigy 180 is risky......it'll poof running that many amps thru it. I'm not saying it cant handle it but it won't last long.

Perhaps you can suggest a better alternative?
