27" sk daddle motor suggestions

what motor would be good for the dumas 27" sk daddle too. iv looked at the Ammo 36-50-2300kV Brushless? I messed with gas boats, and planes but not electrics so im lost.

I just built one and only ran it brushed once, i would love to see brushless! I bet that motor would do well, they use it a lot in the Blackjack 26 which is a comparable size, but a little lighter because fiberglass construction.

I'm running a SV 27 setup in mine. When I built it I used 1/16 ply on the sids and left out the motor mounts and dbl frame to save weight. The shaft runs along the botom of hull,using a skeged strut like my 1/4 scale gas C boxes Had it up to 76 mph (Ebay speed) on the way to the pond Larry

thanks, wazent sure about the motor. i figured since it was the upgrade motor for the sv27 it would push the sk good.

How about an outboard?

I am considering picking one of those up and making it into an outboard as the lines lend themselves very easily to something like an old Stevens, Schiada or Rayson Craft. I think the new Pro Boat outboard would work well on one of those...

I went on Horizon but looks like they don't sell just the outboard w/motor. Seems you will be able to buy the lower unit for $108 and the Motor cowl for a bit more. Not sure. Not very clear on Horizon's site.

The SK boat would be a natural for an outboard as there isn't much depth for an inboard setup. If all you had to carry in the hull was batteries, esc, rcvr and servo, you could make a hatch that would look pretty decent. If there was an inboard motor, there would have to be a pretty big hump in the hatch to clear it.

A boat that size with a flat bottom will probably be optimally powered by a spec motor setup: UL-1 or BJ26. Too much power and the SK boats don't run too well, I know from nitro experience. It's usually flip city if you try to turn when going very fast.....

Those boats are pretty shallow. If you have the motor mounted at an angle I would think the front of it would stick up beyond the deck line? I guess you could mount it straight but that introduces a lot of drag in the driveline in my experience. Maybe others have better luck with that.

I can't do pics. I am using a flex shaft, S curve, shaft runs up tight to bottom of hull to a skeged strut, center of prop is 3/16 below hull bottom. Setup like a gas C box Larry
