need to go faster of course

so i have a couple of setups now that will get into the sixties range but of course its not enough...high sixties to 70 is on the radar..what should i do? i am an obvious fan of the entire df line but powering the sniper 45 is painful with the 2230..dont get me wrong i will spend money but there have to be different ways to get there..i prefer a mono but i am starting to like cats too...i am not the type to want everything for nothing but i do not want to spend 700 on just the motor...it will probably be a little easier with a cat with twins..maybe some of you can steer me in a good direction with a price minded build..more or less some brainstorming here..hull should be 35 inches plus because i very rarely have flat water to run on..

any thoughts?? thanks guys and gals if there are any on ose?!

I have a Sniper with Neu 2230, Schulze 40160 running on 12s2p Hyperion G3 5500mah, 35c, its will run +/- 75mph in 4mins or +/- 80mph in 2-2.5 mins, total price is about $2500 without radio, big boat running high 70's is expensive but you will get what you paid for, here the video of it:

oh I forgot, i used to run Sprint cat 42" with Neu 1527 1.5y, castle 240hv with Polyquest 10s2p, its was running about 68mph, everything ok accept motor is kinda hot after 2mins (170 degrees), thinking if you can run faster with beter "c" lipos and Schulze esc or happy with 2mins at 68mph =0), this set up will be cheaper, how about around $1500, here the video of it as well:

I have a Sniper too... had a 2215 in her and now I am going to try a "sport" budget setup... going with a Sorpion 4035/800kv with a hv240.... so it be much cheaper then kevins setup:) will let you know... I'm working on it tonight actually, just got the motor on Saturday.... upfitting with a watercooled mount and a BIG Radioshack fan (fan itself will overate on a 3s 4000mah lipo:) outrunners run hot... I am hoping for a 55-60mph boat... she's a big boat so I will be more then happy if I get there...

didn't get anywhere with it...... got scared... had two major HV esc/Motor burnups in other big boats and sold(another member made me a sweet deal as he had to have it) the 2215 because it was too much money to have go up in smoke... I am a NEWB to the big boats... but actually peter Z (motor mount expert) runs one in his..... its on youtube, runs real well... high 60's.... I have a couple scorpions and one is going in the sniper...

Anyway why don't you just buy a Real Sniper from Steve at OSE?? they are reasonable and by the time you get done "gutting" the osprey you will find you should have just gone with the sniper.... and the osprey is really like a smaller df anyway right... isn't it like 39"??? and didn't you already have a df copy? I would rather have your df copy then an osprey! So are you still trying to sell your copy? I think you responded to me but my mailbox was full a week ago... I asked if it was still available... I have a df copy( a good copy) and it is a GREAT boat... I love it runs very strong!

exactly get the real sniper... it is SICK... even to just look at while your building..LOL... especially knowing you like as much speed as possible.... I imagine a osprey won't hold up to 70 mph tumbles like a real delta force will..... the osprey will probably be a good up to 50mph boat.... but you'll end up making it a boat anchor trying to stiffen it up to take your abuse..... so why are you selling the df copy anyway... did you not like it??? mine is fantastic.... I love the way it throws the roost up cornering... big boats throw alot of water....:):)

i had too many projects going and i sold the motor after getting high forties with a 1527.. then i went and bought another one to put in my df 35... it was some spastic buying and selling because i wanted to have nice boats but i had no good experience with fast ones..my recent builds have me a little more confident that i can drive them..now it time to go sniping! just bought the white one..think i will need to check my pants after this one! i get excited just watching the other ones you guys have built

Congrats on your purchase... you won't regrett it.... try a outrunner if you are looking for reasonable reliable low cost speed..... won't be 70 plus but will still be plenty fast for a big boat...

I have a 9xl in my drifter L.... it could take alot more... its good for high 40s as I run it hard:) on alot of prop..... a x447.

Anyhow mine has a $500 paint job on it and I don't want to mess it up..lol... and I've got alot of other faster boats so this one is more show then go...

Anyhow if you really want to make it move.... H&M recommends a LEHNER 2250 on their website..... its as big as I would want to go..... and it is the largest motor they recommend.... I actually have a Lehner 2250 12 turn HI Amp sitting around with about 5 runs on it.... I used it in a df39 for awhile but put a Lehner 2280 in it now..... The lehners are expensive but they are worth it... they run HARD:) I also have a Custom made alluminum (very nice) mount for the 2250 that is Brand New too... let me know if you are interested.... its not super cheap though.... I would let it go with the mount for $310... I paid $400 for the motor alone.

Ok.Thanks.Ill let you know about the motor.Im new to FE.When I bought it from Chris Fine he said it ll do mid 60's with a 1515 1 y and Hydra 120.So thats what I bought while waiting for the boat to come in.Now after buying everything,I figured out that the motor is too small for that mph goal and the 120 isnt enough esc for motor.

well if you want to put that stuff towards a trade to my lehner we can work something up.... I want one of those for a miss elam I am buying....

yeh chris used to sell me some of the wrong things too... I push my 9xl harder then I should but its a cheap motor and has a water jacket... if she blows she blows... and I have a 180 turnigy on it know as I know I put the amps to it... the 120 won't survive either in that big of a hull with the 1515 1y.... if they are both New I would trade you your package for my LEHNER with Mount...

your drifter would rip with this LEHNER.....
