First I was thinking you're talking about the prismatic 20Ah A123 cells. I've never seen those in mortal hands :)

Talking of the photo, are these really genuine A123 cells? Do you have more at hand?
Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it.

Dont get hung up on the nifty term "prismatic" or "prismatic pouch". its simpler to say the word flat.

They are available too. But what are you going to do with a 9 inch by 9 inch panel, the basic size? Other configs available on request if your a big business. GM and a123 have a contract for their hybrid cars and many ebike sellers reccomend a123 to include the 20ah, though difficult to obtain because of the car manufacturers sucking them up. Read difficult, not impossible, these have been out since early 2009.

A123 is not known for their pleasant dealings with single hobbiests or very small businesses, if your a large money maker you can get whatever you want from them. They provide primary business to the auto industry and military uav and anytype of remote powered vehicle, busy folks.

I know the chargers (and users of those chargers :) ) have developed a lot since, but if you scroll to the end of the thread you can see quite recent mishaps.

most fires are due to using the wrong charger and with wrong settings

Incorrect. I have a great charger, and balance every time. After I remove the battery from the charger, I plug it into a separate battery tester and confirm each cell is at 4.2v. I have not had a fire before, or since then, nor lost any packs. I just happened to get lucky on this one flight. And again, it wasn't a charging fire, it was mid-flight.

It's pretty simple. Battery fires are rare, we all agree. Saying that you *won't* have a problem if you charge them right is easily proven false. Rare does not equal never.

I'm still using Lipo. I'm trying Life but don't expect to like them. Worth a try though.

I was going to try these batteries but the extra weight, lower volts, and smaller Mah size, I've chosen not to try them just yet
I would like a pack that I can run all the way down without damaging the packs
