    Lehner 2280's Motor Noise

So I have a couple Lehner 2280's... bought them used and they appear to be in Very Very good shape as their appearance is Very good... Problem is when you spin the rotor by hand on one every once in a while it sounds like something internally is rubbing on the rotor?? and every very once in a while the motor will basically almost want to lock up? then if you move the motor around it will straighten out for a while and seem ok... I have never hooked up power to this motor, and for obvious reasons don't want too.... any suggestions... does anyone have a good idea of what it may be? a magnet let go? no noise of anything loose is there if you shake it, etc.., Does anyone on this forum have the skills to fix something like this? thanks for any ideas or input...

That's how my feigao 580 was. Could be a winding from the sator is rubbing the rotor. Or could just be dirty.

Without looking at them it sounds like something loose or broken inside, a Lehner doesnt cog like alot of the other multi pole motors and any resistance or interuption of that free spin feel needs to be addressed. Service it and see.

Pull it apart and inspect the rotor. It might be the bearings or the windings. No way to know without a visual inspection. I will be more then happy to do it. Have all the tools to give you the answer but you pay shipping each way.

I'm just about positive it's not the bearings as you can hear it coming from inside the can....And the bearings seem quite good... I'm going to see if the seller will refund me for both motors and send them both back or not before I do anything now.... He's been a reputable member and I would rather just send them both back where they came from:) was a splurge I am regretting a little as I was hoping to have them in boats by now....thanks for the input from all of you:)
