Did your buddy program the hydra for lipo cutoff voltage? if battery is set for too low a cutoff it will just blink, so reprogram.

How many cells you running? Did you use the BEC or onboard receiver pack. I don't think you can use the BEC with over 3S. You might have cooked the BEC.

If you had steering the bec is fine.

experience would tell me to check my motor/esc connections and I would look into the motor more than the esc.

Every now and then, I get the same problem, steering only, blinking leds, I've had to rebind receiver and then reprogram controller and then it works fine,,,happpened a few times, almost like it forgot its programming

Mine just sat there all retarded like that new. It looked like it was trying to arm and just dying after the first few beeps.

I held the throttle on the Tx, plugged in the ESC and viola, it came to life, did some funky beeping, Tx-> full break, some more funky beeping, then Tx -> 50% neutral.

Then unplugged- replugged and it armed, ready to go. A little odd that it doesn't make any noise or light up until it's configured.

If it worked fine, then stopped..and the BEC still works aok.. Id suggest LVC.
if batts under LVC at connect, the esc will not arm ( no beeps).. a continuous flashing led suggests it's time to recharge

I have had CC controllers 'lose' the throttle endpoint settings and do the same thing. Plug in the batt, hold full throttle until you get a series of beeps. Go to full brake, another series of beeps. Now it should arm.
