    power supply questions

my mrc 977 superbrain power supply has crapped out for the second or third time... i m not going to bother to send it back to be repaired since it s only a matter of time till it fails again... the charger is still fine so i guess it isn t a total loss...

anyway, i now have the 977 charger and a triton charger, both with no power supply... is there such a thing as a power supply that will power both chargers at once... i only run 2s lipos (5000mAH) and like to charge two at a time... so i guess 2 chargers running at once, charging a total of 4 lipo packs... is there any thing you guys would recommend since i m already fed up sticking my head under the hood of the car...

    cheers

You can get a switching power supply off ebay. You can find a 12 to 20 amp for less then $40 delivered. Should do both chargers no problem and the power supply is well filtered. There are other choices too, not sure if they are cheaper though for the amps.

      Convert a pc power supply!!

I have a 350w power supply that can take a 6 amp load on the 12v lead. Go to a pc repair store and pick up a used (shouldn't be more than $20) or 'broken' (free) box. Look up online how to convert a PC power supply for rc use. It's really simple. The power supply will say how much load it can take at each voltage on a large label on the side. Look for something that will handle what you want + 3 or 4 amps. All PC power supplies have a failsafe to shutdown if overloaded so anything in the junk bin should just have missing or bad connectors.

If you can assemble a model boat, you can convert a power supply for workbench use.
