Measure motor/esc/battery temps?

Guys, will any of the cheapo IR thermometers be ok for this? There seems to be a wide range in price, from $25 - $100, but they all sound the same (2% accuracy, response time < 1 sec, etc.). Is there one that seems to work better than the others? Granted the best way would be an eagle tree or similar system, but for non-on board equipment, what does everyone use/recommend? I'll second that. The little duratrax works great. It's what I use. I've had other more expensive ones and they seem to crap out rather quickly or eat batteries after very little use. The Duratrax seems to keep on tickin!
