Cap replacement

I have a SV27 and it looks like the cap is starting to bulge I installed a cap on the battery leads i got from Kintec 25v 1500uf it seems to be working do I have to remove the old one or can I leave it in? I read a Post and it said to brake of the old one and make sure the wires are cut short is this something I need to do?

My 45amp esc did the same thing. I left my old cap on and installed two on the batt leads. Now I have three swollen caps. Not sure if it's because I left it on. But I think i should have removed it. The esc works but i have a 120amp that's going in asap.
