This must be inspiration for a design/build

This is a home grown boat from Warwick Lupton, I know very little about it and have yet to see it for real but here are a couple of shots I have found.

Enough for me to rethink a twin cat, now I may go back to working on a Drag-Hydro on twin outrunners.

WoW, that looks a LOT like a H&M Excess, I wonder if the guy was a FE racer that can afford bigger toys now.

Does this mean if you modify the back end of the Excess hatch and put rear sponsons on it the Excess qualifies as a sport hydro now, as there is a full size one?

Its practically a rigger with wings instead of booms.

The Lobster hull already has rear sponsons under the hull. Not attached to the sides but it sure does look like BBY's War Eagle too. The Lobster runs faster as a three point rigger then with the rear sponsons.

WOW! I could not view the vid and NOT comment on a few things:

I hate it when a thumb gets stuck in the lens. Maybe he just got confused with the house on the far bank and the sport hydros. Or maybe the cameraman was concerned for the safety of the onlookers on the dock or right on the shore...not that 20 ft back is gonna really safe your a#$ if one of those hulls lets loose.

Now to the boat....before anyone goes insane and wants to build and race this style of hull keep in mind a few things. If scaled down...it would not be legal due to the 25% rule. The stepped transom is not legal in impba and maybe namba...unless it was an 1/8th scale. Just thought you all should know. Besides it's design is more a rigger than a sport hydro. If you want to run a rigger...run a rigger.

My Bad, was trying to drink a beer while video'ing the race. Was using the house to get the autofocus to focus as the previous race it didn't focus properly when the hydros were all down past the start line, must have been the glare from the water or something I dunno.

Couldn't you race it as a rigger if scaled down then? I'm sure if you're building a scaled down version from scratch you could stretch the transom a bit and remove the step pretty easily though.
