stinger drive length on twin cats

Question for those who are running twin stingers on thier cats like the mystics, HOR, 2nd gen skunkworks and such.

Why do people try to get the stingers long enough to stick out behind the overhang?

I know boats do not scale from full size down to ours, but all the full size ones seem like the back of the prop is right at the back of the overhang.

    Thank you,

    Brian

It may be because of prop clearance issues. Otherwise, I don't see how it would matter much. I may obstruct a sweet looking rooster tail a little.

I beleive rummy may be right in the clearence issue. My cats stinger is even with the transome overhang.

it can cause lift in the rear water coming off the top of the prop pushing against the boat http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/inf...s-and-more.php

I was wondering if it was a water spray issue with how our props fill up the void under the hull more than the full scale boys do.

I also wonder what the rpm of those full size props are.

I want to build my twin skunkworks hull as scale as possible vs. speed and I am looking at issues I may come into.
