Who isn't doing there job at NAMBA

Is this NAMBA insurance a scam or what? Has anyone ever had to file a claim with them? I was told by my homeowner's policy holder that I would be covered through them anyways so why waste my money on insurance I don't need. Also why does it seem to take months to get a card from them? I think it is clear someone is not doing there job and perhaps more of us should speak up and I for one would like to see some sort of insurance policy and not just a card saying I might be covered. Everyone I have spoke to says it takes forever to get their card and I cannot imagine why. I have sent in my application, emailed, called, and have yet to hear or see anything from the secretary. Won't even confirm my application was received. What a joke.

The homeowners thing has been a on going argument at are local pond for awhile now, my father-in-law has been working insurance for 30+ years and told me the same thing about home owners insurance. But he said for $45 dollars a year it wouldn't hurt to have the additional insurance in todays sue happy world.

Some people have homeowners insurance, some do not. I'm sure making it mandatory for everyone helps keep the price down. Can you imagine having to submit proof of insurance when you apply for NAMBA/IMPBA membership or check in for a race? The host club would have provide a lawyer to review everyones policy.

NAMBA insurance is primary. In other words, unlike IMPBA, you do not have to use your homeowner policy first. I, for one, do NOT want to file a claim on my homeowners insurance, In Florida, insurance companies look for any and all excuses to cancel you. My insurance is already $2500 a year on a $200,000 house!

You're right, that is ridiculous. However my complaint was more about the time it takes to get your card and number back. It has been weeks now even after faxing and not mailing my app. Also I emailed to verify she received it and after a few days of no response I called. Still nothing and that was a week ago

In addition to Jeepers statement... have you taken a moment to do any research on your own? It took me less than a minute to find this: http://namba.com/content/insurance.asp at the end they have an email address for questions. Feel free to contact them for any questions regarding insurance you may have.

Another point, please keep in mind that most (if not everyone) on the NAMBA board holds full time jobs in addition to the responsibilities they have taken on to support our hobby. Also, most if not all, of the positions on the NAMBA board DON'T GET PAID FOR THEIR TIME. They are taking care of the responsibilities necessary for you and I to safely play/race our toy boats.

Lastly, be part of the solution. If you don't like how things are handled, GET INVOLVED. By posting a negative comment on a public board does not get your card any quicker. Being positive and nicely communicating with the group in NAMBA will get you a lot further than complaining to us on OSE.

I will answer any question within my capabilities.

Our weather is no worse than anywhere else where they have LOTS more tornadoes, floods, earthquakes, etc. It is because the state politicians allowed the insurance companies to set up their own "Florida" branches that could charge anything they want. We just get screwed.

How would you like it if you wrote your CC# on something and it just disappeared? My point is that she would not even confirm she received it or not. Yes, I have it and will get to it would have been great. She could have even hung up on me. I have tried being nice and it has gotten me no where.

WOW! Thats more than my house and cars! I guess its about the only thing thats reasonable in Taxachusetts(Massachusetts).

Back on topic, how many Namba members are there? If there was only 500, thats over $20k at $45 bucks a head. Someone must be making a pay. If not thats one hell of an expensive insurance policy.
