    Sv27 motor

Is a SV27 motor 4 or 6 pole? I have read both on forums.

I'm pretty sure its 6 poles. I have had a 4 pole and it feel different than the 6 pole.

I have read it's 6 poles also. Come to think of it, it may work better with my Hex'es than the Feigao's. While we are on the subject. How many poles are the Ammo motors?. Anyone??

For a 4 pole motor with 3 stator coils, the controller will energize a stator coil 6 times in each revolution.

For a 6 pole motor with 3 stator coils, the controller will energize a stator coil 9 times in each revolution.

4 pole energizes every 60 degrees.
6 pole energizes every 40 degrees.

The more poles the motor has gives it more torque for pushing larger hulls, weight and props. While using less amps, since they are more effecient.

A 4 or 6 pole motor is more forgiving than a 2 pole when accidently over propped. The current surges are not as high.

Reddywatts, isn't the down side to more torque is that you lose top speed or high end ?
Im talking in the sense of mechanical, i was wondering if electricly its the same?

I think its like comparing a 2-stroke, 2-cylinder outboard boat engine to a 4 or 6 cylinder. More power, torque, top end, smoother, but more effecient. More power strokes per revolution.

Thats not set in stone. The Lehner motors are some of the most efficient motors we can get our hands on and they are 2 pole motors.

I guess I dont understand how to calculate motor effeciency. Is it the amount of power lost in the motor, when it is converted from electrical power to mechanical?

I guess it has more to do with the components and engineering of the motor?
