    rio ep motor fried!

I have a rio ep with a traxxas 12 turn brushed motor and xl5 esc from a slash. The motor got too hot today running on single 9.6v nimh and quit. I am looking for a good replacement brushed motor to replace the 12turn. I dont want to buy another 12-turn if its gonna heat up and fry again. And I would still like to use my $60 9.6v pack I just bought. Any suggestions?????

      rio ep motor

The rio prop is freaking huge and a car motor does not have enough torque to push it.Your esc will run just about any motor. The 600 Electrify has about the same power as the stock unit(a tiny bit more). I have had great luck with a MULTIPLEX MAGISTER 680 motor. You now have to purchase the motor and spinner kit for $50 and you have to cut the pinion gear off the shaft(TOWER HOB).Another good choice is a VIPER 600 from MZH which sells for $24 but will be slightly slower than the 680 Magister. The old saying holds true, there is no relpacement for cubic inches. Good luck, BG

Anyone tried the graupner speed 600? OSE has them.

Get you a new 12T motor like the Slash has. I like them and they have a fan and are fast on 2s and super fast on 3S with good torque

As I understand the Slash motors are good but rather short lived and do not allow maintenance. I would lean towards a little bigger motor (600ish) to see if you can keep her from burnin up.

                what size prop you usin?

Got the last graupner 600 race from ose. Also have the cf-40 just need to make an adaptor from 3/16-1/8. I hope this will be a more reliable setup.

I ran a 600 race in an AQUACRAFT HAMMER which has the same motor mount as your RIO EP. It is diffiult to secure and center the motor with the strap mount. I quickly took out the front bearing as the bearing race is phenolic plastic. I installed a u-joint motor coupler to the shaft and ran the second 600 race for a very long time. BG
