Denatured alcohol works well and is cheap. Get a bottle at the drug store and figure on using all of it and a roll of paper towels. It will take some scrubbing but if you are persistent the smell will be pretty much gone.

Ive used both of those methods. Just be careful if you have a nice paint job not to get either, especially the oven cleaner, on the outside of the hull or you will not be happy. Also throw a dryer sheet or 2 or 3 in the hull after youve cleaned it out and let them sit in there a few days. I read that somewhere on here a while back and it seemed to help. But, Ive noticed no matter what I do, I can still smell a little bit of that nasty funk now and again if Ive stored the boat with the hatch on and closed. I tried to get in the habit of leaving it slightly propped open when not in use.
Oven cleaner is awesome stuff. Its does so much, from cleaning to stripping paint, anodizing and Ive heard it even cleans ovens.
I used alcohol and the dryer sheets they work well but I agree after being closed up for awhile it still stinks when opened back up. Think of that smell as the smell of money, money going up in smoke.
