I think you could run a 40" to 43" hull with twin KB45 motors on 20 cells each and run somewhere around 40. Someone should be posting a build like this in the next couple of weeks.

A dual drive KB45 on 20 cells will have 5 hp.
24v X 85a X .9 eff / 746 = 2.46 X 2 = 4.92 hpLast edited by ReddyWatts; 09-06-2007, 08:09 PM.ReddyWatts fleet photo

It will need 5 hp to push all of that weight. 40 NiMH cells and two KB45 motors. WOW!!! 15-18lb boat ??? Sounds more like a nitro weight.
Robby76 has a dual drive 42" ABS cat with 32 cells and 2 Fiegao motors and it weighs 12lbs.
Might need a back supporter to carry it to the lake. lol!Last edited by ReddyWatts; 09-06-2007, 08:28 PM.ReddyWatts fleet photo

Yes, I think it will be an awesome boat. You could always go to lipos for more speed.
The robby76 boat travels at 43 mph on NiMH batts and throws up a wall of water behind it. He is using Feigao 10XL's / trans with X447 props, hex controllers. A head turner.Last edited by ReddyWatts; 09-06-2007, 09:52 PM.ReddyWatts fleet photo

Cats fair better with twin screws than monos do. Monos have a tendancy to unload the outboard drive in the turns. That's why we don't see more of them.

the handling of cats scare me. i can't get my 26" scat cat figured out so i don't want to try it bigger or more expensive. besides. nothing beats a vee in the rough stuffComment

Good luck with the project. It will be interesting to see how you guys overcome the issues associated with twin screws in a mono.
Be sure to post some pics and vids.

When I said it would be an awesome boat, I was thinking a 40 to 43 inch cat like I said earlier in this thread.
Here is a video of robby76's cat on its maiden run.
