    Leaving an ESC plugged in

This should be a simple question but I am getting different answers even from tech support people who should know.
Is it ok to plug in a Castle 240, tape the hatch, and let it sit there for an hour or so before running it? I have noticed that the speed control starts to become warm within 30 seconds of plugging it in. I haven't even run it once yet so please let me know what you fellows do with yours.

no, why leave it plugged in, just plug it in and tape it up just before you run.

Are you using the BEC function on the speedo? Thats the only time I have noticed an ESC getting warm if left just sitting plugged into the pack.

What about installing a safety loop on the boat? That way just connect it when you're ready to run.

just dont understand why some one would leave it connected for an hour.
bit like leaving your car running just in case you may use it

Yea it's kind of strange but the lake that I run at is quite a ways away from where I camp and it is pretty steep and rocky so it works better to get the boat all set up and bring it down. Not necessarily an hour but there is quite a bit of time that passes. I am just asking if this is going to hurt the Castle speed control.
The funny thing is I got two different answers from Castle themselves!

All ya gotta carry besides the boat, is a roll of tape.

I always try to keep the esc connected only al long as necessary. Nobody told me to do like this, but it is just my opinion. I got a safety loop to disconnect the power-supply for my receiver, that’s all I have. Connecting the lipos to the esc, make the hull waterproof putting the boat into the water takes me just 5 min.

                  best regards: jens
