    Need help with my boat

HI! I'm new to boats and need some help to choose parts for my boat

It's a 47" V-shape hull and I was thinking brushless but i'm not sure if its the best choice

I have found some motors and esc but I dont know whats good or not to this boat. I dont want it to cost a fourtune

I want it to be a fun and unusual boat

Is waterjet anything to think about like this http://www.jet-drive.de/index.php?pa...mart&Itemid=17

Brushless 47" mono is gonna cost a chunk of change no matter how you go. A budget setup might be one of the "little screamers" outrunners and an Etti 200amp...? Others know better than I - my biggest mono is 33" and would cost $1000+ to duplicate, but it is for heat racing.
Getting a mono that big going brushless is challenging for a first build. Trial and error alone may put you quickly on the path to spending $1000.00.

Answering these will get more response:
    What is your budget?
    What is your speed goal?
What are your intentions (i.e. - racing, SAWs, scaring your friends, jumping ocean waves, puttering around the local duck pond, impressing women...)?

Join NAMBA if in the USA.
New-to-boating folks with 47" water missiles are a danger to the public, so please get insured.

    cheers,

second that, sell the hull and use cash to set up a smaller guy. Maybe post up a pic of what you have. We need to see what we are working with.

If you already have batteries, and you are happy with 20 mph, then we may be able to get you running.

Are you able to manufacture your own hardware? or do you need to get everything already made?

                I've got three big boats....

The cheapest of my builds, my 44" team america aeromarine cat, which has a budget build including the following:

                Scorpion hk4035/800 kv outrunner $189
Turnigy Monster 2000 HV ESC $179 + 28 to ship (that is if you can get one in stock)
                10s2p rhino 3700 mah batts
                2 6s 3700 @ 64 each = $128
                2 4s 3700 @44 each= $88

                (1) $24 1600mah reciever pack

Total into just the power system= $ 612

Total spent yesterday after the motor shorted out and took out EVERYTHING = $612

This is about the 20th boat in my collection...... so I'm not a total NEWB...

This is the cheapest system you can put in a boat this size and make it move at any real speed...... you won't be able to scare your friends with any less:)

I am with the rest of the guys that you should probably find a different hull to put a Fast Electric system in as big boats cost big $

                  I agree with these guys.
47" is really large for brushless. Expensive to make it go anywhere near "scary fast".

Is gas an option for you?
I don't really have any idea what gas boat stuff costs, but likely much less than going electric in your 47-incher. Plus the noise will be enough to scare your friends!
Imagine the pride you'll feel pulling up to the lake with your boat and saying, "Hey Bros, Look what I did to my weedwhacker!!!"
Then you just pull the cord and off she rips in a flurry of smoke and roostertail...at least that's what I'd consider doing with that hull. Out of my budget to make it electric.
I think it would be hard to do it right for $1000.00...

You could get a used SV27 and an Ammo2300 with some killer lipos and a 437/3 blade for all the scary speed you'll need for $400.00 or less.

I was a little bit optimistic there

I did not think it would cost so much to build a boat

how much can a gas engine and drivetrain cost?
how much is just a drivetrain from the motor coupling to the prop?

Martin, I agree with the others. Sell the boat and get something smaller if you are going electric. Otherwise, check out a site with people who are running gas boats and see what your options are there. Should be cheaper going gas at the size you currently have.

martin... you need to post a picture so we can tell you about the shaft but a 6,3mm flex cable would be my choice

Looks like a nice hull..... Worse part is that these "bat" boats are not easy to "motivate" and would take a BIG electric system to push her.... Def go gas.... I have an aquacraft v24 that I gave up on with the stock 24cc so I suggest you go zenoah for sure...
