Venom Smart Temp w/ an ESC?

I was thinking about using my Venom Smart Temp Failsafe with my FE boats as an extra measure of protection on experimental hot setups. Do you think it would work with an ESC to limit the throttle as it would with a throttle servo? Venom Tech support thought it would, but I would hate to have an out of control boat if it doesn't.
For those that don't know the device I am referring to it is HERE .

I thought I could place the temp loop around the motor, caps or the batteries, depending what was the perceived weakest link.
    Let me know your thoughts.

very cool idea, i see 2 things, one cant use 2.4g with it.
second its made by venom, dont know if they have gotten better but i had one of there on board temp gauges in my monster truck a few years ago
when my motor was at 120f it would show 170f, some calibration may need to be done

I think it should work fine for me since I am using a 75mhz JR radio. I will make sure to calibrate it against a known temperature. I will probably test on my Mini V since I have the least investment in it in case something goes awry.

I also would like to see if its really works, temp is very critical in FE boat, I have fried two esc's because of motor failure due to overheat.

I will attempt to do some bench testing with a cheap chinese ESC and outrunner and a measured heat source to see if the throttle signal is reduced when the temperature threshold is exceeded.
Better to see if it works as expected on the bench than to have an out of control boat on the lake!

I am also waiting to hear back from Venom to see if I can run three thermocouple loops in series or parallel, so that I can monitor all three critical temperatures at the same time.
I could then pick a safe max temp for the batteries like 130 degrees F and that would protect all the components from extreme temps.
I will let you know what I find out.

If its works, I wonder can it be use on outrunner motor too?I've tried using an ezrun car esc and it has overheat protection. My jollymotor, stop for a while when it gets overheated but can run it back onshore after about 30-40 sec and Im quite happy with that esc and I wonder why seaking don't have that feature

I guess the temp loop could be placed tightly around the mounting area of the outrunner. You would just have to make sure the remaining temp loop was securely routed away from the spinning can.

I know some ESCs have temp sensors to protect them, but I don't know if I would always trust them.
