Need help finding a lake to run on!

Our club, the West Florida Model Boat Club "Aquamaniacs" need a lake in the Tampa Bay area! Anybody know of something we can use? We are also interested in a lake in the Orlando/Kissimmee area where we could hold a couple of meets a year to join up with the Waveblasters from Port St. Lucie!

I am in Land O Lakes and believe it or not, NOBODY will let us use their lake. Frustrating!

    Anyone have suggestions?

Try using Google Earth and see whats in the area you are looking for......it helps sometimes.

Been all over google earth. LOTS of lakes, none that anybody will let us use. It's the typical N.I.M.B.Y. (Not in My Back Yard) attitude even though we explain we are not noisy, don't pollute, and will give them $2 million in insurance!

ya if you leave now, you should make it before the ponds freeze!

I hear ya though on the lakes. If you know anyone good in ArcGIS, they may be able to help you find a map with all the lakes marked public or whatever, and sometimes they even let you know who they may belong to.

good luck and let me know when you'll be here, we will have dinner ready.

Are these public lakes? If so, why even ask? Just go run.

I can find the owner, etc. on anything in our county through the property appraiser's site. I aree about ARcGIS. I used to have it and access to the county network but that's before I retired!

Thanks for the dinner invite but don't stay up too late waiting!

Everything around here is private. If we did have public lake(s), ... I spent my career as a Parks and Recreation Director. Believe me, you either need to ask permission, or forgiveness! Haha. We would want to put out buoys so we might be a little too obvious to just 'casually' use the lake.

I guess I'm too spoiled around here. There are literally hundreds of inland lakes and ponds to run at. Only, nobody to run with

Not sure which is worse! There's a pretty good group of us FE'ers here but not a good lake to call our own. The nitro boys are very numerous and have a couple of jam up lakes but too many heats involved to include FE when they have a race. Also, practice days are dominated with nitro/gas. In order to have organized meets, etc., we need to find our own lake.
