    Hi-Model 200 amp 4-8s

im sure this has been asked before but i wasn't able to find the exact answer in the forums search... sorry if its a dup question..

the esc has an auto detect for the battery.. it seems that it auto detects only NiMh cells and cuts off at .8V

does it also detect LiPo cells and cut off at 3V or do i have to program the amount in.. can any one confirm that the auto detect works with lipos.... sure hate to kill my brand new LiPo pack..

You have to program it for lipos if you want the protection. The default is auto detect and based on nimh cells.

have you tested it? the manual says:

      Speed controller factory default setting:
      1. Battery type and cell number auto-detect
      2. Throttle range auto-setting, low accelerate mode.
      3. Timing mode: 1°
      4. PWM: 8KHZ.

does battery type refer to LiPo or NiMh?

has any one tested to see if it in fact does cut off at 3v per cell in "auto-detect" mode?

Nope. Sure havent. But thats because I do not trust any ESC cuttoff internal settings. I always use an external LVC like the dimension engineering units where it uses individual cell voltage and not the overall voltage of all the cells for action. That is the best method of lipo protection available.
