i have a Mean machine...just bought the eagle tree data logger and i am wondering if i can or should be getting more out of this boat??
i have been running a NUE-Castle 1515 (2200kv)motor through 1 etti 150esc...with x645 prop on 6s..the results were top speed 49mph@173amps i used 3500mah ....water was perfect...the pond is about 100 to 150yds at long point...you think i need more space or should i chage something on this boat

some thing wrong there my MM does 45 mph with a 8xl 2079kv on 4s s215 prop
6s is way to many volts for a 1y you should be around 50 mph on 4s

I'm with Ozzie, with that boat and motor, 50 mph should be achievable on only 4S. Your lake should be long enough.

Perhaps the cells are too heavy for the set up. How many mAh are you running? I'd really recommend changing to 4S, then we might be able to offer some help with your set-up (I run a Neu 1515 in my MM with 4S).

If you must run 6S, then prop right down (440) and try that.

Also, post some pics of your MM, never too many MMs on OSE!

Thats way to big of a prop. I ran a 447 on 4s in my boat and got 50 mph. Thats not a 6s motor but if you insist try a 440 prop.

Agreed, 6S is way too much for that motor - that's hot even for a true SAW setup. I'd not run it at all but if you do, an m440 is plenty with a theoretical top end of 70+ mph.

ok i will switch to 4s and check it out also i will put up a few pics on this so you can check itout....also i think i have a 442 prop i can run on it and see what the difference is....do you think the leghth of the pond is the issue?? there is a really good size pond down a ways that is much bigger i will try that one

I totally agree with the others... I run a mean machine with the 1515 1.5y (1500kv) versus your 2200kv.... I run a x442 on my setup on 6s and it's only good for a short run.... I actually prefer the smaller m440 and x440 for most of my running on 6s.... You are gonna, if you haven't already, kill that neu..... Did I hear you right... 173 amps..... Have u checked your temps?? I am with the others... You should be running a x642 or x447 on 4s with that motor... It's definately a 4s motor.... I am pushing my 1515 1.5y by running it 6s... When I do run 6s I def prop wayyyyyyyy down. All of the sudden I'm feeling like etti makes a really good esc to handle tht abuse...

ya my temps dont get very high on the motor or the esc. i have the spectrum that gives me real time temps..they dont get above 140 to 150 ...if i see they are i stop for a while...would the wieght play a part???i just figured on 6s it should fly

your probably over propping the motor and pulling way more amps than the motor is intended for.its not running at its best efficiency and i doubt your battries are holding there voltage at those amps
a 4s setup propped well will give you much better results and your equipment will last a lot longer

It is a common misconception with FE boats that just adding voltage means a faster boat. If you don't reduce the prop size the motor can be too heavily loaded and just draw excessive amps without going much faster. A smaller prop will help, but the best choice is to run 4S with that 4S motor, or get a real 6S motor.

                      mm

I would try a m445, a x447 or an x642 on 4s with your motor... should be almost spot on good for 50mph.... if not that NEU may have already seen its better days.... or your strut angle could be off too..... the temp sensors work ok but I always use my tried and true temp gauge..... and I do a "touch test".... Bascially I want to be able to touch the can of the motor for at least 3 seconds without having to remove my finger from fear of burning:) I know its a little archaic but it seems to work:)
