Just woundering do i have to remove the red wire that gose to the reciever if im going to run a 4s liop set up and run a reciever pack? and what do i program the cut of voltage at?.............

Yes remove the wire and use a 4 cell aa pack or 5 cell nimh pack to power the receiver. Check with the lipo manufacturer on what they recommend for cutoff voltage. I personally set my polyrc packs at 3.5 per cell.

3.5........!!!!thats high. most esc well have it programed at 3.0 per cell(if it says it has LVC) each cell has 3.7 volts....well maxamps does. some make 3.6 cells

I use BEC units. The S-BEC from battlepack has the higest volt rating I have seen. The Hex U-BEC is a cheap alternative @ 10 bucks delivered but only handles just over 23 volts.

It has been shown time and time again that Lipo's are much happier with higher LVC. I personally do not rely on LVC but time my runs and see how many MAH has been taken out of the pack in say two mins and then calculate what kind of duration I get using 80% of the total capacity of the pack. Lipo's do not like being drained the whole way. I have 4 TP2100PL 3S packs that I am pushing pretty hard in a 50" aerobatic plane (WOT is pulling 40Amps or 20C) and I have never put more then 1700mah in them and they are still going strong after 50-60 cycles. YMMV.........

Setting the cutoff at 3.0 volts might be too low for safety. That almost guarantees that one or more cells in a 4S or 6S pack will drop below 3.0 volts, which is too low. Most cell makers recommend a minimum of 3.0v or permanent damage will result. I usually set mine at 3.3-3.4volts. That said, I have never run a pack to the cutoff anyway.

Remember that you never want to fully discharge a LiPo cell. Once the voltage gots too low they are permanently damaged either with reduced voltage or capacity.

Thanks for the info guys. I dont run my lipo packs all the way down so it shouldnt be a problem.....I just want to make sure i have a solid set up..............

I was running the Titan at Legg on Sunday; after a little bumperoo in a turn with UBHauled's hydro in a turn the Titan Quit. There goes another Hydra 240 I thought; had rudder but no motor [ am using Castle's new CCBEC so rudder had power] . Put the batt's in the Drifter & same thing ! Then my brain woke up & I remembered that I had the LVC set for 14 V [ 4S x 3.5] . Charged up the lipos & all was fine !! With @ 800 bucks in 4 lipos I'm sure glad there's the safety net of a programmable LVC in the Castles !
