Battery Pack/Prop Recommendations for KB 45L...

OK, having established I have a KB 45 L motor (either 1400 or 1800Kv), and guessing the motor has been around for awhile, what battery pack/prop combinations have proven popular? Seems the motor will take up to 8S no problem, but I would be more intersted in running it at 4S-6S for the size hydro hull (37") I have. What props have people been using with this motor, and at what voltage?

I realize the best approach is trial and temperature measurement, but that implies you have some place to start from--so open to recommendations on where that starting point should be...thanks. Pete M

I would start with 4S and an Octura M645 or a Prather 225. That motor has a lot of torque and needs a rather large prop.

From the experience of many, it is best to sell it while it is still working :)

If it is 1400KV best to stay in 5 cell on larger prop and 6 cell on a smaller and keep an eye on the temperature. I had 1400 and after 6 minute run on x642 is cooked itself taking out ESC.
If it is 1800KV, don't go more then 4 cells.
You can also get this toy and know the KV.
Here is a good lead on an 1800 good quality motor.

Yes, someone else pointed out the meter, but I have access to a drill press so will likely determine the Kv that way. May not be quite as precise as the meter but will be close enough to determine if it is the 1400 or 1800 motor...

These KB 45's are amp hogs, so make sure you get as high a C rating as you can afford as this motor will use it. Make sure your ESC is up to the task as well.
