What size bullet connectors to used?

Hi Guys

Its time for me to upgrade my dean connectors to bullet connectors. In my last run the male and female deans got stuck together because of the heat and some melting......

I'm thinking of the 5.5mmbullet connectors such as the one below as they seem the most popularly used.

Are they what most people used? Should I use 5.5mm or another size?

Do I just solder the 2 males on one side and 2 females on the other side or should I solder 1 male and 1 female on each side?

I'm using a hydra 240 ESC which has really thick 10 gauge wires-- the 6mm bullets just barely fit the wires.

Another reason I'm thinking of using 5.5mm bullets is because the Turniguy lipos comes with 5.5mm bullets..... I'm not using Lipos now but is thinking of getting some in a few months time.....

Shall I buy 5.5mm or another size?

5.5mm is a popular size and works for my 2 bigger boats that pull 120-170A.
I do 1 male and 1 female on the battery leads and the same on the esc. This prevents me hooking up the esc backwards. It also allows me to do series setups eg 2S+2S or 2S+3S.
There are a few threads that are fresh and cover this subject well.

there is a huge difference in quality between yours(cheap) and this version of 5,5mm golds.
I tested both under my 45A bulb discharger and cheaper plugs generated more heat due to higher resistance. They are not fully compatible - cheaper male does not fit expensive female. They are thicker at the ends to make 'click'.
Also it seems like the cheap one has less gold on it...

The convention right now seems to be 5.5mm gold bullet connectors. The wiring convention is the female bullet goes on the positive side of the battery. One way to remember this is "Red Hot Female"

I have found the cheaper 5.5 bullets from Hobbyking don't fit as tightly as the more expensive ones.

True. I use a nail punch with a tapered shaft to expand the positive connector for a better fit. I have both Hobbycity connectors mentioned and would recommend the better ones.
