    Am I asking too much?

So I have a question.....I hardley ever get to run on glass smooth water but it seems that my OM29 with a 11XL being run on 18 IB 4200's or 4S2P 4000mah pack is out of control. I just replaced my ESC and ran the boat for the first time on 18 IB4200's and it flat out hauls a$$ but it is pretty out of control and I cannot really give it full throttle for any length of time. This evening I ran the boat on Long Island sound and there was a little wave action (4-6") and a little breeze chop on top of that. When you guys get you top speed readings are you doing so on totally flat water? I have played with CG and seem to have that pretty well nailed. I guess when you start talking about scale the chop ends up being 4-6' so being out of control would make sense, either that or the boat is not set up well at all. Curious if any of you other guys run on open water and what you see.

By the way the 11XL with a Baracuda 125 with a K42 on 18 cells seems to work pretty well, the motor was warm but I was able to hold my finger on it for 20-30 seconds before it became uncomfortable, the ESC was just warm and the batteries were less so. Seems to work OK for me.

    Cheers,
    Jim

I was having similar problems with my Toysport triton when it broke the 50mph mark and was getting a little discouraged. I installed Fullers trim tabs (D. Smock suggested them) and now things are much, much better. The boat (32") is now quite drivable at high speeds. I can't say for sure if you'd have the same luck, but the tabs sure worked for me. I'll have a vid of the results posted soon, good luck:)

Jim, can you post a picture or two of your setup?
4 to 6" of chop is huge for a hull that size, but we may be able to find a little help in there for you.

        Thanks Guys,
I ran the boat very early this morning and there was nothing more then a slight ripple on the water and the boat was much happier, still a little bit of bounce but was able to open her up and let her rip......I have to say she does pretty good, the GPS I have does not record top speed so I do not know how fast she is going, anyone care to take a guess? Set-up is a 11XL, Baracuda 125, 18 IB4200's and a K42 prop.

        Doug,
I will take some pictures at lunch and post them. I am a total Newbie to FE boats and while I think I am pretty good at setting things up I would love to have you guys give me some pointers......Still not exactly sure what you are looking for when it comes top strut depth and angle, at least on full size boats you can look at the tach and boat speed to know when you are trimmed for optimal speed.

        Cheers,
        Jim
