TFL Genesis Cat Testing & Video

I tested the TFL Genesis Cat yesterday. I only got to run two sets of packs though it. I tested it will (2) 2s Hyperion 6500mah packs. With the stock prop it ran 33-34mph on gps and with a Octura x442(about one size up in diameter from stock), it ran 38-39mph. But I think there is much more I can get out of it for speed. It ran pretty wet and wanted to pull right at full speed. I tried a ton of adjusting and moving of both the strut and the batteries. I couldn't get it from wanting to pull right. No matter what the strut angle / height or battery placement. I'm looking for help from the Cat Guru's on this? Maybe Jay is listening? One other issue was the paint. Its really nice, but did pull off in some places, where it was taped.

On a side note YouTube trashes the quality of the video on upload. Anyone have any tips on getting better quality of video to stream on YouTube?

The boat looks great.

As far a YouTube I agree. It makes my videos look like crap. Try using Vimeo. I have had better results with them.

Looks like it handled the chop and wind really well (and apparently its self righting as well)

It did ok. But the front right sponson dug in on acceleration and full speed, making it pull right. I'm not used to that and looking for answers to see if its hull or something I can adjust for.

If the rudder is on the right side and is not at 90 degrees it can do that. That's one thing to look for. same if the rudder is in line if it's not at 90 same thing can happen. Just somthing to look at. hope it helps

Is the bottom true front to back? I always worry about long narrow hulls.

I didnt check for warping, but will tonight, thank! But, when I set up the boat on my bench I didnt notice any rocking.

Old Guy pm'd me with another tip that got me thinking. How much is the balance Point of a hull effected by the distance a prop is from the transom?

No, No... no need for that... I was just wondering how long it was, and what the power system was... 4S, 6S, ??? :D

I've had my little monos track terribly if the balance point was centered longitudinally, but haven't run enough cats to know if that would make a difference... I would think you'd want the weight evenly spread across the sponsons...

Otherwise, I have had boats pull that had a blade not sharp on the prop... did you try different props?

The torque from the prop will do this as well. You need to shimm the strut to point to the left when standing behind the boat. Or just bend the strut with your hand to the left . I have to do this with most of my boats.
