    Balance Taps

I got a Hyperion Duo charger that came with the Hyperion boards so I ordered a pair of boards for the XH or Align taps. The only difference I see is the 2S and 3S taps. The Hyperion boards use 4S connectors and space the wires accordingly. Where the Align board uses smaller connectors to reflect the number of wires. 4S and up appear to be identical and the tap on my turnigy 4S fit both style boards. Are the 2S and 3S taps the only difference between the two? If so anyone using 4S and above could use either style without any problem. Am I correct in my thinking?

not necessarily they could have different pin spacing and the pin call out is most likely different.

The pin spacing and connectors are the same but you are correct that the configuration could be different (but why?). You have a common for all and a wire to each cell - what difference would it make what cell was where?

because there are no standards for the balance taps

the charger would probably decide that there is an error and do nothing if what it expected to be cell #1 voltage was something other than 3.7v(say 7.4v or higher)

Something else to consider - but again I ask why? One of the standards will become the accepted one as did VHS vs. Beta and Blue Ray vs. HD-DVD. I don't understand why manufacturers insist on developing there own standard when they could all work towards a common goal.

There will be different battery chemistry before there is uniformity in balance connectors

as to why...its called MONEY. they figure that enough people wont be bothered to buy (and use) adaptors, but will buy licensed products, that they will make a profit.
