    motor mystery (not mystery brand)

just wondering peoples thoughts on my scorpion motor
    motor is 3026 1900kv,running in my vs1 on 4s.
i have tried a few props but the mystery to me is,i ran a x637 and speed was near dead on 40 mph so i up sized the prop to a x642 detounged
speed increase was about .62 mph.
now i dont have room for a data logger but going from mah used both props gave a average of 66 amps, temps were the same just under 40c (100f) on motor and esc at the caps.
if the motor was struggling to spin the 642 compared to the 637 i would expect higher amp draw and when its running its obvious the motor has more than enough torque to spin the 642.
what am i missing ? only thing i can think of is the prop is not large enough to load the motor ?
    any thoughts ?
just to clarify some thing,my vs1 is being used for sport running so iam not after a huge speed increase as it runs extremely well how it is,just has me curious as to why it doesnt have more of a speed difference between the 2 props

    thanks

Hey Scott. Im thoughtless on your motor, but, I had a similar issue w/ a different hull. Many were running 642s on similar hulls and set ups that I had, and having no problems (using an 8XL on 4S) I went from a 640 to a 642 and the 642 ended up at 1mph less.? Temps were within a couple degress of eachother. I thought Id try a 442 and expected even less but gained 3mph.? Seems just when you think youve figured out props.. something like that comes along. So now I just go at every set up w/ no expectations on what a prop will do. Try one, make adjustments for a bit, write down your findings, change props and do it all again till youve found the right combo... thats how I tackle them now anyways.....

I didnt really help you at all huh?

lol no its all food for thought, thats why i posted as i maybe just missing some thing obvious, i did try a few other smaller props but they were marginaly slower.
i did try this same motor in my cat at one stage, running similar size props speeds were around high 30s, changed to a (cant remember which one lol) m545 or 447/3 thats was detounged and cutback and the speed just jumped right up
cat was barely touching the water.
this is what has me thinking the motor needs more load to get going, being rather a torque motor it may like dia over pitch
the other motor i tried in the cat didnt live very long with the large prop
still not sure if i pushed it to hard as it did look like the wires had shorted coming out of the motor.
