    Question abou Neu 1527 motor

I have a question about a 1527 1.5d Neu motor I just picked up. It spins by hand relatively easy. Is this normal to be able so move the rotor easily? Thanks for any info. This is my first Neu motor and just want to make sure its not lost magnet strength. Thanks, Mike

Being a 4 pole motor it should have distinct lopes or cogging as it rotates 360 degrees. I purchased a 1512 motor off ebay that had no cogging when rotated and when I sent it in they said the rotor was demagnitized. You should be able to rotate the output shaft and feel some form of resistance at regular intervals.

Well, it does have the distinct stoping points, just wasn't a "bang, bang, bang, bang" between coggs. I was just thinking a motor so big would be really hard to turn. Mike

It must be a newer style. I have a coule 2215's that are farely smooth to turn but you can still feel the "lopes". I had a older 1515 that seemed almost like a brushed motor. They say the newer style has less cogging on take of and slow speeds.

Neu changed the stator wind or twist to reduce the cogging torque in the newer motors.

You are probably OK, unless it runs poorly than it may be the rotor.

I have the Neu 1527 1.5d that I purchased from Steve not long ago and they don't cog like the older ones. I would say from your explanation that its the new style and its normal.

Yeah , It doesn't have that stiff, hard twitch between cogs. Trust me, the motor is good.

Mike, I promise it's good, and if there is any issue I will fully refund you. Whether it's a re-trade or cash refund.

Don't be nervous, Neu def changed thier motors and they don't cog like they used to BUT they still run like no other!

Naw its cool Rumdog! I just had no idea how slick a Neu is! They are completely new to me. I hope your package arrived safely Rumdog? Thanks again, this motor should do well in my 1/8th scale build. I'm doing a lightweight, 5s2p Miller High Life build. Mike

Mike, the newer Neu motors with the twisted stators should be identifyable by the small collars on the endbell where the wires exit.

I fired it up yesterday, turned over smooth, quiet and fast, so I am pretty sure its fine. Mike

Twisted stators? How does that look like? Spirally stacked laminations? Is that design a trade off between efficiency and smoothness ?
