The tunnel is nice but that Hydro is down right horny
What is it ??
How big ??
What is under the lid ??
Are you willing to shoot some more pics at my request so I can draw up a hull ??

I haven't a clue about those wings on the tunnel. They were on the boat when it came to the house. Were it not for Grim I wouldn't have even been able to put it together. Thanks Mike. I'm guessing here but I would think that there is so little boat in the water that those fins at the front are used to make it go straight....ish.
Ty's new boat is a Whiplash. Comes out to about 33.5" tip to tail feather. I took everything I learned from the old Tide Whip and built it into this one. Shook of the ugly that comes standard with a Whip. No offense to the stockers. My Tide was fast. Set a record with it. Won a bunch of heats. This one should be a runner too. The biggest difference between the old one and the new one is the weight. The old boat was 9.5 pounds RTR. This new boat is 5 on the button. I used much better epoxy this time too.
I took a couple more shots of it.Noisy personComment

the wings have me thinking acouple things,as you say help straight line stability
also was thinking that it channels more air over the hull either side of the cowl
that section is convexed (bottom is flat) and acts as a wing giving more lift
having more lift with the extra weight of a electric may help, thats my main thinking.
it may help it not trip in corners some how as wellComment

I have a ton of time testing air dams on the front of a tunnel and they just do not do what you think.. truth is they are there to help the boat in cornering. (more of a band aid really)
I however do not use one on the right sponson. We turn left so one on the right can upset the boat.. I have done a BUNCH of testing on this as well and have a different solution for that………….
BUT... Mike from WS builds em his way and thats cool with me.
ROCK and ROLL

either way your tunnel looks nice, i have only got mine in the water a few weeks ago, no racing here so i am using a scorpion outrunner and setup for sport running not straight out speed. here is a video from a couple of days ago if interested http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xlj3sr6yLs0
