    Thats why I like switches on mine.. you can tune and tweak much more easily and safely.

      So, if you are running a switch and your esc has a bec, when it is in the "off" position, are your batteries draining? I would guess that the power is still to the esc, just not to the reciever.

        NO power is draining from the batteries when the switch is OFF.

        If the receiver has NO power the ESC is in stand by mode.

            on my mgm esc it has a on/off switch. i have a third channel switch from hobby king,this is basically a electric switch that runs of the third channel,what i have been thinking of doing is use the switch to turn the esc on once my boat is taped up (rx has own battery supply)
            this would also allow me to turn the esc of by remote if some thing goes wrong on the water
