I looked hard at both pics and saw no difference.
I can only assume that you mean the air intake on the top of the canopy, if so then get the dremel warmed up and cut that sh.t off.

For me I do not like the high air intake on the canopy.
Your boat, your money and your call.

Me ?? Í would have had that thing off as soon as it came out of the box !!
    See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

methinks he was refering to the scoop just forward of the hatch/windscreen :). I'ld say that it is up to the op since he will have to live with it...however I will say this; it will make life a whole lot easier if the 'scoop' is 5/8" (or more) forward of the joint( so that the tape will clear) .
mayhap an overhead or an above and foreward pic would so the proposed scoop better.

yes personal choice, a lot of people like the scale look with scoops and such but i like a clean look, to me its a FE rc boat not a scaled down Gasser

I'm with rex. If you are gonna use it make sure it's out of the way of taping!

Alfa, when you gonna build that bad boy? I've been seeing pics of a bare hull for 6 months now!

ASAP. Now I' ve got all the hardware and all parts from radio to propellers. I reinfoced the front of the hull with fiberglass (access is not easy), I used carbon layer for the bottom and reinforced the part where the rudder is fixed. A bulkhead will be installed too. I want a perfect boat each detail count.

Why add a fake scoop when one was provided on top of the canopy? Personally, I've never cared for fake air intakes on FE boats; what's the point? Just slows things down and looks out of place. If for 'scale', consider nothing behind the transom will be to scale anyways. If it were me, I'd remove that intake on top of the canopy too. Just my preference.

I for one dig the fake scoops. Scale looking on the water is awesome! That tiny scoop is not going to slow down anything at all.

That is not to say I don't use scoops. I added a scooped intake on a converted pushball boat to direct air onto a ribbed brushless motor to keep temps down. It's just the fake ones that get to me. Whatever butters your bread

I just enjoy building mine as close to scale as I can.. If the real 1:1 boat has it.. then I want it on mine. The more realistic I can make it, the better I feel about it. But as Sundog put it... whatever butters your bread.. floats your boat... grills your cheese... and so on and so forth
