    Power supply

I have seen people use CPU power supplies to run their chargers. What is required to make it work for a charger. Where is a good place to accuire these. Probably need something in the 30-40 amp range to run two Hyperion 1210i's

    Thanks

I have made 2 so far (only used the 12 volt/ground wires) with a few dollars worth of stuff from Radio Shack. Here is a link with instructions and pictures.

Edit: I would look for a 500 watt PSU or higher.

I found a Dell server power supply on Ebay that supplies 41A at 12V that works perfectly for around $15. Search on Ebay for Dell 500CB and you should find some very cheap. Here is the link for getting it to work, requires shorting 3 pins together http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...b#post13443199

What is minimum amperage and wattage for running the Hyperion duo?

I have a 19a cpu power supply, and not sure if it is enough to charge two 5S batts at 2C (7a each).

I have one that i did and it i supposed to have 15A on the 12v side. it runs great with a 5amp load but if i try 10 the voltage starts to drop and the ps starts to get hot so i just leave it with one charger on it. point being some of the off brand computer psu's might not do what they say they can safely. if i do another i would look into getting a server ps. if you have it just laying around jesse i would tear into it. its was pretty fun to convert it plus the look on the miss's face was priceless lol.

The manual that came with mine says 12V/10A is min power.

But to charge your two 5S at 2C, assuming they were 5000mah, you would need

            [[(3.7 x 5 x 5) x 2] x 2] = 370watts (I think I got the math right), but each duo port is max 180W I think.

The 12V/10A would only supply 120watts... I think 18-20A would be the min you'd want as an AC power supply. I went with 30A.
