What order to run water line

When hooking up the water line I assume you run it to the esc first
then motor then out! But can i cool the motor first then the esc as it
would make running the line easier.

The "standard" order is to go to the ESC first, but the difference will be minor, particularly in the winter/colder water months. A few inches of extra waterline won't hurt anything.
