    Nimh cells

sup fellas, new to the boards here been doing a lot of reading an theirs plenty of info on here that's for sure

i have a set of 4200 dtx 7.2v nimh packs.. i would like to rebuild them but was wondering if it'll be a bad idea to add another cell to make them 7cell 8.4 packs for my sv27.

i dont find duratrax cells alone but if someone has a source for them let me know. Till then.. will a different brand cell but same specs work or will that be an issue?

You didn't mention how many cycles you had on your packs but I'm betting it's quite a few. I wouldn't add a new cell to the pack even if you could find the same cell. Just run the boat the way it is and save up for some lipo batteries. They really aren't that expensive anymore.

They are currently 6cell. Lipo's are not expensive these days but the lipo charger I was looking at is 120+ so I figured I'll wait a little while before switching over. The power supply I would like to get is also about 100.

I know there's cheaper routes to get started with lipo but I rather buy something good that I won't have to upgrade for a while. And the way the FE boat bug has bitten me I'm sure I'd have to upgrade if I went with the bare minimum for right now

don't know why I thought you asked how many cells but as far as cycles there pretty new but they had the rust on them from getting wet so I took em all apart clean up the rust and I had some bars that didn't seem to be soldered well.
