    PIP Triton FDM transmission removal

So after another flex shaft snapping and just getting sick of the whole gear ratio thing... I am finally going to rip out the FDM transmission in my Toysport Triton... this is the stepped hull triton, has the carbon window top cowl not in pic... I love the looks of this boat on the water

I am a newb to building boats... I have alot of boats but have never built one start to finish....

My question is how do I remove a J.B. Welded in, FDM transmission? I don't want to hack up my beautiful hull.... I love this boat but never could get it to handle right after switching from Nimh to Lipos.. think the CG was off.... But I also don't like the transmission.... would rather just go with direct drive....

Does anyone have any motor mount suggestions for the boat? and if anyone could help with their knowledge of carefully removing the J.B. weld from the boat in a neat fashion? Also do you think I can retain the old stuffing tube... I figure I can just cut off the last 2mm or so that got mushroomed.... or do you think this will put the direct drive motor back to far... I also removed the teflon liner and ran without it for the last flexshaft.... should I upgrade to a bigger flex? boy I am lost on this boat... hence why its sat for a year...
Thanks for your help in advance...

The last pic is after the first flexshaft failure.... had the hacker motor and esc in it then.... now it runs with a turnigy 180amp esc and fiego 9xl.... the hackers magnets let go and took it and the esc out

Use a hair dryer or heat gun to heat up the jb weld. It should become soft enough to pull the tranny right out.

I did the same to my Drifter L. Ever since its been a joy. I cut mine out with a dremel cutoff wheel. Then cleaned up the area with some sandpaper and elbow grease. lol

I have had to resort to a dremel to get them out of hulls before. Your going to need something along those lines anyways to smooth out the junks of JB Weld attached to the FG once the trany is out. Use a cut off wheel and just cut into the epoxy material. With the epoxy cut on both the front and back edges the stuff just factures. Very easy removal. OSE has a good looking mount that should suffice for yor hull.

I used this one when I pulled the FDM trans out of my boat, real easy to line everything up http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...prod=etti-h010
