My thought on the puffed cells:

    1. How or did you balance the packs BEFORE use?

    2. Auto Lipo on the Hydras is set too low in my opinion. I set mine to cut off at 3.3 volts a cell. Well with in the "safety margin" of Lipos. Thr factory set up ojn the hydras is 3 volts a cell.

A good charger is needed ALONG with a good balencer. If not used you could under load draw one or more of the cells under the "Safety Margin".

Once again this is just my two cents. You could get many answers on this topic.

Correct, as long as 2400mah cells are 1P.

Now I'm fuzzy on the math. 2-3cell packs @ 11.1v in parallel = 3 cells in series and 2 cells in parallel? I just dont get it. I need to go back and read Jay's article in RCBM again. I'm lost.
Your not entirely doubling every thing. You are increacing you allowable amp draw on the batts.

Ok let say you are running 4s 4800 at 20c. These will give about 96 amps cont. I would not run a 200 amp set trying 2p. Its just too close and your asking for trouble. I would want a 20 or so amp buffer.....

            I appreciate the help

I did and always balance my cells with a hyperion LBA10 while I charge them.
I changed the voltage cutoff to 13.2 for a 4 cell set up
I use the ICE charger and has been good so far I have a hyperion charger on the way as well so I can charge the big 6 cell pack

I am hoping a change to parallel will save the life of my batteries and my DPR (thanks SJFE) just got here so now I will know whats going on in the boat.

            thanks

[QUOTE=SJFE;12304][B][I][COLOR="Navy"]Since this is a lipo question thread I'll add one of my own. Then if I take that set run it in series with another set Id get 22.2v s6-12p 4800mah @24c correct :

              You will get 6S 1P @ 22.2V 2400 mah 12C

So pulling between 40 & 50 constant with 80 amp spikes through those cells is asking for trouble then? Sorry for high jackin your thread Wicked..lol

Total cost shipped 92.96 shipped per set. So for under the price of a singe Neu pack I can power the entire boat..For under the cost of 2 packs I can power the boat twice.... Just lookin for a safe lower cost sport setup to hold me over untill I can aford race packs this winter.

What packs are you thinking about purchasing?

Yes you will have a problem with parallel (puffed batteries) and probably a fire in series

I will have to collect more dpr data and nail down the exact numbers. Thanks Doug.

They are from Mystery. Same company that sells the ESC's. Oh and they are 50 a set..so for under 200 you get 8 packs.

I am not familiar with these batteries. What C rating are they. Do not look at anything below 20C. A word of caution buy the best quality you can afford. Companies you can trust are Thunder Power, Polyquest, Kokam etc. I use Max Amps And Thunder Power. The Max Amps are OK but I would use a 15C rating for their 20C. TP are great

It seems the guys who race use the Neu power cells.

Doug they are only 12c. That is why I was going to parallel a set of them for a higher c rating.
