I have many pair of packs that I always run together in series.
They are all 2S packs run together in 4S boats.
I charge them as 4S (two 2S packs in series)
I have made my own balance harness that plugs into both packs,
with one 4S plug into my LBA-10
The charger and balancer see them as a 4S pack.

You say your packs are within .02 Volts
At .02 Volts out of balance, I consider them NO good any more.
My cells run at .002 Volts, that is 2/1000 of a volt.

My 4S2P (RC LIPOS)-5000 30C packs after a hard run of 140AMP average draw, with only 1200 left in the pack, put directly on the Volt meter read .003 volts difference between the highest and lowest cell in the pack.

Maybe this is the difference between good race packs, and Sport packs.

Do you have a diagram of this? Just curious as to what it looks like.

Truckpull, that makes the most sense and the first thing I thought of. Now off to build the balancing harness> I, as you, run my packs in pairs and have numbered them accordingly along with the date put into service.

Here is a picture of my adapter harness.
Very important - you will notice a +and a -marked on the balance plugs that plug into the battery.
The +MUST plug into the battery that has the +battery wire connected to the balancer.

Send them to me, I'll cover the shipping (seriously).
My equipment does not show past the hundreds in balancing, plus giving the error with" inexpensive" Asian equipment I have, 0.02 can be no difference at all due to just rounding errors.

My balance meter, says that my cells are OUT OF BALANCE
and gives me a audio alarm at .006 volts.

If you meter only reads to .02 volts, you need better equipment
                do deal with Liops.

If you start out with packs that have matched cells, you have a better chance of gettng a good balance on your packs.

You must remember that I pay about $90.00 for a 2S race pack.

Considering that acceptable tolerance is 0.1, mine is 10 time less, so accurate enough.
What charger are you using as I have not see one that goes into thousand.
Btw, i don't claim to have seen it all :)
I'd like to check it out.
                  Thanks

It is not the charger that goes to 1000's
It is the meter that I use to check the balance of the packs.
the LBA -10 will go to about .008 if left connected until all lights go out after charge. (this is only if you charge at or under 1C)
If you reconnect the balancer again without the charger it will bring the balance even closer together.

If you use a low charge of 1/2C - the balancer has a better chance
                    of a better balance.

                    As I stated above;

They stay closer together even under hard use.

                      Ah, got it!
I just use my charger to check what it says. I paid a few times top $$ to batteries as well. Not making that mistake again.
I was so pissed when my brand new 4s thundepower batteries were put to shame by 1/3 price Rhinos. After 1 years running Rhinos hard and not loosing capacity I'm sold.

I have raced against people that try to use Rhino packs.
They have not beat me yet.
I borrowed a pair of 4S packs, 4S2P to try in my "P" Mono in my signature, it was about 5MPH slower.
I will stay with my Enerland cells.
Voltage under HIGH load is HIGHER
                        Lower internal resistance.
