    4035 scorpion motor mount

So I bought a cooled mount second hand and it didn't work that well.... I tried to make it work and it didn't...

my question is do you guys really think I need a cooled motor mount for my 4035/800kv Outrunner on 10s with a hv240?

Could I use a fan and get by? I am not the best builder and the boat was built by KR Joyle.... he did a great job with it and I don't want to hack out the wood mount currently in the boat unless I need to...

What would you guys do? Should I just mount it on the existing wood mount and try it or should I remove the mount in it (its epoxied and bolted) and put a jim williams mount in? I am not going to race the boat, but like many of you I am not just going to "put, put" around the pond with it..... any suggestions would be great.....

The pic shows it with a NEU motor mount which I have removed....

Hi i have contacted Hyperion tech support about running their HS series outrunner motors and they stated that it is possible to run the motors in an enclosed boat but only for short time like 3 minutes i will try soon

I run a 4025/6 in my SprintCat with good success. I do have a 30mm computer fan blowing on the endbell. After 4 minutes of running in the upper-40s the motor was 105F. I am not running this as a race setup, just 6S1P with an x455 for fun. In hulls with a large air volume like cats and some sport hydros there is sufficient air to keep the motor cool. In small monos and riggers cooling may be a problem.

Right on Jay. I too like the idea of cooling the outrunners with circulated air. The spinning mass already does move some air, the fan can only improve it.

              Hello JMSCARD
as you know I have been selling off much of m fleet......I ended up selling ny 41" falconcat (my avitar) to my son inlaw which is great because I will still get to help build it and run it

the point of my post is I happen to have one of jims williams water cooled motor mounts just like the one in the picture above that sailr linked you too....never got to use it and wont be using it because my crazy son inlaw is going to try to run twins...I am ordering aother 4035 800 from jim and we will be using a carbon fiber bulkhead for a motor mount in each sponson

my mount is available at a good discount if you are interested pm me...its made for 5" rails

My boat is home where I am not... Can anyone tell by the pics if my boat has 5" rails? If it does I will probably buy bustitups Jim willaims mount... I take it to that I will need to remove the wood mount... Am I right? I hate to remove it cause the flex shaft alignment is perfect and be motor mounts right up in the existing holes in the wooden mount ... What is everyones vote... Take out the wood mount and replace with Williams mount or go with a good fan? I only ask because it seems like so far we have a split decision.... Thanks for all the input gents!

my honet opinion is that Ild use the water cooled mount AND a fan both

it looks like 5" rails in your boat but def measure it before desing on mine...no pressure here...you have first dubs........yes you will have to remove that wooded mount you have (not the rails)

It doesn't look like too big a deal to remove your wooden mount. I'd go with the water cooled mount and no fan in my opinion. Water flow is certainly more reliable. A fan could quit and you wouldn't know it.
