    bec

I have never used a bec before. Is it very important to get a quality one? The reason I ask is that I found 5 for sale for $34 with free shipping on eBay. It says they are 5 amp. Is it worth trying? Thanks. Nick

A UBEC can be very useful in certain builds. Sure makes things easier. Havent seen the ones your taking about. Who makes them? 5 amps is way more then we need in RC boats bit remember that depending on the voltage range of the UBEC as voltage goes up, down goes the amperage rating. So if its 5 amps with a 5 volt to 25 volt input you dont get 5 amps at 25 volts. Its usualy de rated as voltage goes up because they have a max wattage rating.

I have some Dimension Engineering units, some koolfight HV (USA built) ones, as well as some Chi Hextronic units as well. Big price difference in them but the Hex units are performing quite well over the years.

Rctimers is the eBay store. It actually says rctimers on the units. 5 amps continuous, and good for 2-8s lipos is what the ad says. That's all I know. Figure it might be worth a shot, since all I do is play in the pond. I know absolutly no one in my area with boats. (no one to race)
