    Lap times for VS1?

    Anybody have any?
We got ours going for the first time yesterday and have a race coming up this next weekend.
If anyone has some times from a good running boat I would appreciate your sharing information.
Were running 1/8 and in the 14,s . Just like to know if were in the ballpark?
    Thanks T.C.

Wow thats slow, maybe you should leave that one along with some others at the house and just watch the races instead of participating.

If I remember correctly that is moving pretty good. I would guess your speeds around the high 30's to low 40's mph wise. For a tunnel hull to me I would be happy.

Thanks Boatman, The boat does run well "But"
I would feel better if someone with a known good running boat would give up some lap times.

that is. It just seems to get cold here for a few months and haven't been to the course so to my best recollection is a 15 second lap was what I was counting in race water. I noticed not many were counting and I did it just to nail my starts as we do full lap running start. good luck

A well running VS1 boat with the UL1 motor are in the upper 40's approaching 50. I would say a good VS1 on an 1/8th course would be about 12 second laps or less?

What is your Combo? Motor, Prop and Batts? (Good Batts can ad speed too.)

Thanks for the replies, Boatman I wasn't implying your boat wasn't fast, I live in Fla so snow and Ice aren't aren't in my vocabulary.
I hope you didn't take anything I said the wrong way.
Yes we are using the UL1 with a 642 prop and Interland 45c,4s,4500 batteries.
The prop line is approx. 1/4" above bottom of sponson at about 1-1.5 degree positive angle.

Eh, not taken that way. It's not the fastest thats for sure. You should shoot a PM to the west coast guys. They have been running them for a couple years now. Propper Chopper, Darin Jordan are just a couple I can think of. I can't believe all the classes are running UL motors now. Even in offshore. Why not just make it a big, one class, free for all. Enough politics for now. Definately don't want to get that started. I have just been bored this weekend and anxious to get on the water.

At the '09 Nat's in Michigan, the fastest OPC (I think) ran a 1:51 on a 1/6th course. It was a prototype Grim hull and, just like any boat out there, could have been a few ticks faster if a tighter course was run.

Not sure about a 1/8th course, but on a 1/6th if you turning 18 second laps consistently you're doing very well. 17 seconds even better.

Brian ran his VS1 during a 2-Lap in LA last year at right around 30-seconds...

I wouldn't consider that typical, however...

You don't NEED a UL-1 motor to be competitive in most of the classes... ANY of the other motors will work, you just have to match them to the right hull, and then the right prop.

ALL of these motors make about the same overall power output, they just do it in different ways. It's up to YOU to figure out how to best utilize that power...

Most are taking the 'easy way' out and just mimicking what others have done successfully... Others, like Terry Davis and others, are trying some different combinations and have found good success.

I wouldn't go blaming the motors offerered just yet.

Blaming the motors for what? The UL--1 motor came from a hydro. That was my point. It is just funny to see them in offshore class when really just my opinion they should be kept to Limited hydro class. I was a class leader last year so I think I did just fine figuring out MYSELF. Easy killer:)

Also Darin, you notice I recommend you and for your experience with all the awesome things you guys try with setups so please play nice. I only mean good. I want to race, not fight on the computer.
